Bryllup på «Het Laer i Ommen»
«Hé, you’ve got a red beard!», Mindy said when they first met; Euhh, yes, and my hair is red as well», Bastiaan answered a little stubborn. This is how the lovestory between this very sweet couple began. Can Bastiaan act stubborn? I didn’t notice that at all!
When we arrived, on the morning of their weddingday, Mindy was in a very small room in the basement of the estate, together with her mother and her best friend. I could not let this happen, so I went upstairs to ask the men if we could find a better room for her. If you are getting ready in such a beautiful location, you want to feel it and see it, right?
It didn’t take long before we came up with the solution, that Bastiaan would be moving to the entrance hall and Mindy would get his room. So I went downstairs again to tell them the good news. Mindy couldn’t believe it. «How did you do that?? Bastiaan insisted to have the room with the blue tiles!» Hihi, well, as I said: I didn’t notice anything about him acting stubborn occasionally 😉
It was a very nice getting ready session. Also at the men’s place as I heard from Gerben later on.
The first look was outside on the stairs of the estate. It was a beautiful moment full of love. The closest family of the bride and groom were also there. So afterwards we could go on and take the family portraits. I was singing almost the whole time. Normally I only do this for the small kids, but here the adults also liked it 😉
We stopped just in time, before the rain came poring down. We waited a little while to leave for the photosession, but it wouldn’t stop raining, so we got our umbrella’s and went anyway. Unfortunately the rain wouldn’t stop, so we took the moment to eat our very nice lunch in the car.
This was a good idea, because after that, the rain stopped and we had very good weather to take some awesome pictures. Gerben also got the drone up in the air and we are very happy with the outcome of this photo! 🙂 Bastiaan and Mindy also wrote a beautiful personal letter to each other and they read it during the photosession. And yes, tissues were needed! I love it!
Then it was time to get back to «Het Laer» for the ceremony. We were welcomed by Martin Coers, who was going to be leading the ceremony. The guests all arrived and that was not just by bike. No the guests of this couple came from all over the world. They mostly spoke english, but I heard that Bastiaan can speak 4 languages fluid!! (I hope I’m doing well, with this blog Bastiaan ;-))
They choose to do the ceremony in dutch anyway. It was a beautiful setting underneath the apple trees in the garden of the estate. At first Bastiaan came with his best man. Then the bridesmaid came, she did such a good job, walking all that way towards the ceremony on her own! And then the beautiful bride arrived together with her father! I don’t think there were a lot of people who kept dry eyes during the ceremony. It was so personal and emotional and even the weather behaved well. We just ignored the very dark clouds and apart from a few drops they went away and the sun came when it was time to say I DO!! It was perfect!
After the ceremony everybody came together for drinks and petit fours cakes. We wrote a small word in the very original guest book. This is a tip for everyone. Buy a book with beautiful pictures (this couple choose a very large nature and wildlife book) and let people write a personal word for you in it. You can leave the book in your living room because it really looks good and every once in a while you look into the book and see all the amazing pictures and personal messages from your dear guests!
